It’s official, the holiday season is upon us. Even though the turkey hasn't quite yet been devoured, we want to be sure you're ready going into next weekend when the tree is cut and the fun begins.
Beautiful holiday decorating doesn’t have to be a hassle. You can add small touches throughout your home to create a cohesive look. We recommend choosing a color story and using it in different ways. Below we show you how to take a color story and make an entire home feel chic and pulled together, while giving you some of our best tips to create the same looks in your home this holiday.
Tie ornaments to the tree with ribbon to add a bit of whimsy. We chose white grosgrain ribbon with a simple gold polka dot ornament. We use tiny bits of twine for a simple look and exaggerated satin bows for a more dramatic one.
Wrapped gifts tucked into shelves can add a bit of festive cheer. We added a strand of our new tiny globe lights – our new favorite item! They plug into the wall but also have a battery pack if an outlet isn’t close by. They’re darling and not to be overlooked.
Eucalyptus is our favorite greenery for the holiday season. Its muted green color goes with anything, and we love the fresh aroma it brings to the house. We like to drape bunches of it over the mantle and add in twinkle lights, ornaments and candles. When everything is one color, the look is seamless.
Try putting ornaments of the same color and shape into a clear glass container to let them shine on and off the tree.
Beautifully wrapped gifts aren’t just for under the tree. We like to use these gold-trimmed boxes tied with a bow and a tag as place cards. They make a beautiful addition to our table setting.
Table décor can be tricky since it needs to function as well as impress. We like to keep it simple with a little greenery, some small ornaments in matching colors, and our twinkle lights. They have the option to be battery operated so they can be tucked in anywhere, providing unexpected and flattering table lighting.
Boxwood wreaths are an elegant addition to any door, inside or out. The natural beauty of this piece doesn’t need much, so keep it clean with a big white bow and a monogram (available in stores!) to add a personal touch.
What would the holidays be without a gold star? This one was designed with our kids in mind. Adding the star is their favorite part.
