love is in the details
In addition to clean, elegant letterpress design, we offer additional services to make your Sugar Paper order even more unique. Please contact us directly to discuss the extra services listed here, and keep in mind that they often require additional turnaround times.
Edging: Edge Coloring is a Sugar Paper signature. This detail, in which edge color is applied to the sides, edges or "thickness" of the paper, is best noticed when one turns the invitation on its edge. We recommend saturated and bright colors for edging, as subtle colors often get lost with this technique.
Bordering: Bordering is a technique that applies color to the face - or more specifically, the perimeter of the face - of an invitation. This is a thin detail usually about 1/16" thick. Any color you desire can be used for bordering, as the paper can hold even the palest of colors.
Beveling: Beveling is a combination of Edging and Bordering, in which an angle is cut onto the edge of the paper and color is applied. This design accent can be seen when looking at the edge and/or straight down at the paper. Beveling is specifically recommended on double-thick paper (2-ply, 3-ply, 4-ply or 5-ply). As with bordering, any color ink can be used for beveling, as the paper can hold even the palest of colors. A plain bevel with no coloring is also and option and looks exquisite on extra-thick paper.
Calligraphy: Sugar Paper is happy to coordinate calligraphy on your behalf for your envelopes, stationery sets and invitation suites. We offer an array of hand-lettering styles from only the most talented calligraphers, all of whom we recommend for an exquisite final product. Our Preferred Calligraphers list is available upon request.
Custom Wax Seals: Sealing envelopes with hot wax seals is a time-honored tradition and a distinctive personal signature. Sugar Paper is happy to use design elements from your invitation to customize such a mark.
Monogramming: Monogramming can be incorporated into any Sugar Paper piece, from invitations and stationery to announcements. A monogram is a set of personal or family initials combined to make one cohesive design. There are many different types of monogram styles. Please consult with us to determine which style best suits your personal aesthetic.
Stitching: To add even more tactile detailing to letterpress pieces, Sugar Paper can add stitching to invitations and announcements. Straight and ric-rac stitching is available.
Die-Cutting: Die-cutting is a method for cutting unique shapes in paper by using a metal form called a die. Sugar Paper often uses this technique to yield untraditional, attention-getting shapes for invitations, announcements and stationery.
Duplexing: Sugar Paper's standard paper is heavy 1-ply stock. However, we offer duplexing services to create any thickness you desire. Sugar Paper provides 2-ply, 3-ply, 4-ply and 5-ply duplexing services for an additional fee.
Envelope Liners: Sugar Paper offers hand-lined envelopes to correspond with any invitation, announcement or stationery suite. Please inquire about available colors and patterns.
